“Faithfulness in Worship”
Series: The Habits of Effective Christians
Habit 3, “Faithfulness in Worship”
(Habit 1, Prayer; Habit 2, Bible Study)
Text: 1 Chronicles 16:1-3, 7-13; John 4:24; Psalm 100
Worship comes from the word, worthship, which means showing God the worth He holds in your life.
Worship involves getting excited about God.
True worship must be;
– Understood, and
before we can accomplish it.
The Definition of Worship
Worship is to reverence God in self-humility.
“Whatever it takes” God is worthy to be praised.
Worship is an active experience.
Active worship involves active involvement.
Those who do not participate cannot worship.
If you really start worshipping God correctly He will restore some things aspects of your life…
God wants our praise and He seeks our worship.
The Elements of Worship (1 Chronicles 16)
Worship involves exhortation, to urge someone to be more Christ like (1 Chron. 16:11),
prayer (1 Chron. 16:8),
giving (1 Chron. 16:29),
confession (1 Chron. 16:1-2), and
praise (1 Chron. 16:7-36)
The Experience of Worship
Worship is personal, just as salvation is personal.
“The test of worship is: does it make you feel the presence of God.”
Psalm 100 gives us a blue-print for worship using the 5 W’s and 1H.
Who, What, Where, Why, When, (and How).
The only thing missing is Where we worship and When we worship – it’s obvious.
Everywhere and Anytime (more appropriately, All the time)
“The test of worship is: does it make you feel the presence of God.”‘
