“Resolve: Commitments for the New Year“ – Part 2

“Resolve: Commitments for the New Year“ – Part 2

Last week we shared  two resolutions:

I.  Be Resolved; We Need A Humble Evaluation of Ourselves
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect“ (v. 12a).

II. Secondly, If you want to get off to a good start this year, you need:
Be Resolved;  We Need A Holy Aspiration

“But I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me” (v. 12b).

 Today, Sunday, January 10, 2021

III. If we’re going to have good start to 2021 we need –  A Hearty Determination

“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” (v. 3:13).

Distinction or Greatness in any arena comes to those who can say with the Apostle Paul, “One thing I do.

Paul’s attitude for believers is reflected in the acrostic for the word PUSH.
“When life seems difficult…Push Until Something Happens!
and Pray Until Something Happens!

 Question:
Are you ready for a new chapter in your life?

In order to move forward into the blessings God has for you, you have to be willing not to allow the events of the past affect your future.

That’s called forgetting.

IV.  To have a good start to a new year – We need
        A Heavenly Inclination (or tendency)

“I press on toward the goal (mark) to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (v. 14).

Press on means to pursue, to seek after eagerly, earnestly endeavor to acquire.
