Closing Prayer
Lord God, as we go back home, we ask you to continue speaking to us. Open
our spiritual ears that we may be able to hear in the spirit and follow the
leading of the Holy Spirit. Help us to continue looking up to you every day even when life does not make sense. Father, do not allow the enemy to steal the joy of salvation that you have filled in our hearts. We come against strife and contention that usually crops up when people leave worship meetings in the name of Jesus Christ. Help us to continue fixing our gaze on Jesus, the
author and finisher of our faith. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour; and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every organization of human origin; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; to contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has proposed us, towards its expenses, for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. In case of difference of opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit, and if we cannot unanimously agree, we will cheerfully recognize the right of the majority to govern.
Paragraph Three
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study diligently the word of God; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our employ, and faithful in the service we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will towards all men to exemplify and commend our holy faith.
We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every good word and work; to guard each others reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other’s joys, and with tender sympathy bear one another’s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Saviour in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; and through life, amid evil report, and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God, who hath called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.

“Plan of Salvation”
To become a Christian you should realize the following :
• God loves all persons. “But God commanded His love toward us that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 6:8). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
• Sin separates us from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
• Your response is to repent of sin. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9)
• Believe on Jesus. “He that believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God’s wrath” (John 3:36).
• Pray for Salvation. “God, have mercy on me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13). I believe that Jesus died for my sin and that God raised Him from the dead. I repent of my sins right now. Thank you for saving me and for giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
First Steps of Obedience
Publicly confess your faith. “Whoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).
Follow the Lord in baptism. “The they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day were added unto them about three thousand souls” (Acts 2:41).
Join a Bible-believing church. You can become a member of our church if you want to be among new Christin friends and grow in our life with Christ. Simply come to the front of the sanctuary and be seated on the first pew at the end of the ministers’ sermon or at the Welcome Desk in the lobby.
Scripture Reading: Luke 4:1-13
Forgiveness does not change the past,
but it does enlarge the future. —Paul Boese
He was crazy. At least this is what most people thought. That’s because the man had the habit of talking to himself in public, and he claimed he was talking to Jesus and Jesus was talking to him.
A new preacher came to town and, hearing of the addled gentleman, thought that he might be able to make him face reality.
One day, as the preacher saw the man walking down the street, he spoke to him and eventually got around to saying, “I hear you talk to Jesus.”
“Thas right,” he said. “Jesus and I talks fer jist hours and hours.”
“Would you do me a favor?” the minister asked. “Could you ask him something for me?”
“Sure. Sure can. Sure will.”
“Would you ask Jesus what the last sin was that I confessed to him?”
“I’ll ask,” he said. “Certainly, I will ask.”
The next day, the preacher saw the Jesus-talking fellow and ran down the street. He caught up to him and asked, “Well, did you talk to Jesus last night?”
“Yessir, yessir, I surely did,” he said.
“What did he say was the last sin that I confessed to him?” the preacher asked, sort of smug-like.
“Well, here’s sumptin’ now.” The old guy raised a bony hand to his chin, puzzled. “He said he didn’t remember what was the last sin you confessed and he quoted Scripture, too.”
“And what was that?” the astonished clergyman asked.
“Not for certain, but I think it was Psalm 103.”
As far as the east is from the west, so far he removes our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12. See also Jeremiah 31:34: “For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sin no more.”)
Thank You, Lord, for cleansing me of my sins, and for remembering them no more! Help me to live worthily of Your great love. Amen
—Timothy Merrill
